This month our residents dj team will be joined by two of Glasgow's infamous disco intstitutions. Dance! Dance! Dance! residents Andy Piacentini and Derek Smith.

ANDY PIACENTINI

Half bowl of pasta, Half Funk 45, he’s been DJ-ing in Glasgow for over 15 years and has been a leading light in the Glasgow underground Disco scene, however his musical interests don’t stop at all things ‘Protohouse’. As a fledgling aficionado of the nascent Rave Scene in 88’ he has an almost encyclopaedic knowledge of all things ‘Old School’. With residencies at Disco Not Disco, Deaf Monkey and for the past 2 years at DANCE! DANCE! DANCE! Andy’s sets are a true journey through underground dance music...Leftfield Disco, 80’s Electro, Italo, Boogie, Techno and Deep House.

 DEREK SMITH

A DJ for almost 20 years and been collecting records since his childhood. He’s been DJ-ing in and around Glasgow since the mid 90’s beginning with Galactic Disco at the Sub Club. In 98’, alongside some friends, started the legendary club night, Traxx, where he remained resident DJ for several years. Since then Derek has DJ’d all over the UK from Aberdeen to Brighton. One of Derek’s main influences is that of the Chill Out/Ambient scene of the late 80’s and early 90’s, where the emphasis was on setting a mood. A firm believer in programming being the main point of his DJ sets and that a good record is a good record - you’re as likely to hear 60’s Soul, 80’ New Wave, Philly Disco or one of his own Re-Edits.

Over the years the DANCE! DANCE! DANCE! guys have DJ’d alongside the likes of Andrew Weatherall, Greg Wilson, Todd Terje, Mark E, Tom Middleton, Balearic Mike, Phil Mison + The Revenge and many many others and the club night has had both national and international press coverage. 

 The SLO-MO Residents will then be hosting the entire evening for our last bash at The Flying Duck on Thursday 17th June, before we take a summer break.You'll still be able to catch us djing monthly at Mamasan just round the corner on Bath Street as we take up a monthly residence there on the 3rd Saturday of every month.
